18 “Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen,
My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased!
Servants are not self directed, but respond to the will of their master
Jesus Accomplished His Work By The Power Of The Holy Spirit
I will put My Spirit upon Him,
And He will declare justice to the Gentiles.
Jesus received the empowering of the Holy Spirit at His baptism by John.
John 3:34 34For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure (unto Him).
Jesus and His disciples would preach the gospel to the Gentiles who far from God.
He would tell them about how to have peace with God.
See John 3:16-21
Jesus Was Not Forceful With People
19 He will not quarrel nor cry out,
Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.
Matthew Henry- He spoke in a still small voice; he did not desire to make a noise, but came down silently like the dew. What he spoke and did was with the greatest possible humility and self-denial. His kingdom was spiritual, and therefore not to be advanced by force or violence, or by high aspirations.
20 A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench,
He was not forceful with the weak, but gentle, and nurturing.
The bruised reed He would help become strong again.
The smoking flax was a wick which depended upon oil to keep it lit.
He fills believers with His spirit, and ignite the flame of faith
Though Gentle, Jesus Is Not Weak
Till He sends forth justice to victory;
21 And in His name Gentiles will trust.”
Jesus shall come again to judge the living and the dead.
Philippians 2:10, 11 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
