Genesis 12:1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you”.
In 1991, God used this verse to inspire me to serve Him as a senior pastor, and to move to Napa, CA to start Cornerstone Ministries, now called Calvary Chapel Napa. And now in 2020, God is still using this verse to lead me forward in life and in ministry, but this time God is leading me as a missionary.
I write from the Calvary Chapel Missions Conference 2020, in Murrieta Hot Springs, CA. Debbie and I have enjoyed seeing old friends, meeting new friends, and hearing great testimonies from those who serve in many places throughout the world. I’ve attended Missions Conferences before as a Senior Pastor, but this is my first time as a missionary pastor.
In 2020, I am still scheduled to teach at Bible colleges in Peru and Mexico, a total of 12 weeks out of country, but I have to admit that I feel hungry for more than that. This week has been a week of seeking God for more direction, and praying for clear direction. Here are some things that I am considering. I’m only thinking out loud!
- Hope Fest, Harrogate England, July 2020. Mike & Teresa Howard serve at Calvary Chapel in Harrogate England. They lead an outreach to their city in late July, and I would love to lead a team to Harrogate to assist them. The Napa band Run With Patience will be going, and I would love to be a part of assisting them in this effort. The trip would be about two weeks long in the last part of July. If you are interested, email me at pastorbillwalden@gmail.com.
- Sermon Preparation, Preaching, & Pastoral Ministry. A passion of mine is to teach on different aspects of pastoral ministry. I am in the early stages of planning a one week (or more) intensive for men and women. The intensive would be open to aspiring and veteran pastors and ministry leaders. This would be for Spanish speakers and will take place at the Bible College in Cajamarca, Peru. It would be for veteran pastors that need a refresher, aspiring pastors and leaders of all sorts, especially for those who are teachers or home fellowship leaders. This would be done with Pastor John Bonner.
- As I said, these things are in the initial planning stages, but I appreciate your prayers.
Finally, my non-profit 501c3 status is still being processed by the California State government. There have been some people that have asked about supporting “Build Up The Church” financially. We expect that the paperwork will be completed during the first quarter of 2020, but until then, if you would like to support this new ministry financially, you can mail tax deductible checks to:
Calvary Admin Services, Memo Line: ” Build up the Church Acct.”

Calvary Admin Services Inc. (a 501c3) will send you a tax deductible receipt, for…

Thanks for reading, and for your prayers and support.
Blessings in Jesus…Bill
