When Jesus comes for his church, those who are asleep in Christ will He bring with Him at His coming.
When Jesus comes for His church, those who have died in Christ will be coming with the Lord to meet us.
35 Will we recognize and know them?
36 Paul addresses those who were denying the resurrection of the dead.
Paul calls them foolish. Nature illustrates the principle of resurrection.
The seed does not give life until first it dies in the soil.
37 There is a difference between what goes into the ground and what comes forth.
38 The body which comes forth is much different than the seed that is buried.
Hold a gladiola bulb, and compare it to the flower which comes forth in the spring. Huge difference. The ugly bulb is a gladiola, just as much as the beautiful flower which comes forth.
You don’t plant the beautiful blossom, you plant the bulb.
God gives it a body which pleases Him.
39 There is a variety of life within this world that we live in.
Different kinds of flesh.
40 Heavenly bodies vs. earthly bodies
41 Same in the planetary system.
The beauty of the earth is different than the beauty of the stars and moons.
The different suns have energy going forth from them.
Others are simply reflections of those suns.
They are unique, different.
42- corruption- that which will be destroyed. That which can spoil.
43- dishonor- w/o honor, disgraceful.
Raised w/o the shameful effects of what we have done to our bodies.
44- natural body- governed by the instincts of man, psyche of man, etc.
spiritual body- governed by the spirit of God.
The body of a person is not the person.
God gives us bodies in order to inhabit them, and express ourselves through them.
The true you is that part which continues to exists after your body is dead.
Turn to 2 Cor. 5
Phil 1:20-24 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!
I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;
but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.
45 Adam: flesh and blood being
Jesus: a spirit which gives life
We recieved life after the form of Adam, then the Born again life after the manner of Christ.
We recieved a body that dies after the manner of Adam.
We shall receive a body that will never die from Jesus.
46 First came the natural man, then came Jesus, the one who gives life in the realm of the spirit.
47-
48 Our bodies were made out of the earth, to inhabit the earth.
The same 17 elements that make the earth, also make you.
We are designed for the earth.
14# psi.
Our body designed to extract the oxygen from the 78% nitrogen and 29% oxygen atmosphere, 1% various gases.
Not designed for the moon, space, mars.
To take our bodies out of this atmosphere requires taking an artificial environment with us, i.e. space suits. Maintain pressure, oxygen, etc.
49- 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
50 These bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.
New bodies are needed when we enter into that arena.
These bodies not designed for heaven, and to be in the presence of God.
51 Not all Christians are going to die, but all Christians will be changed.
