Hebrews 12:2, 3

12:2- looking unto Jesus- to turn the eyes away from other things and fix them on something;

to turn your mind to a certain thing.

“Looking off and away to Jesus…”

APPLICATION- turn your eyes and thoughts away from things, and places them on Jesus.

It may mean that you make a decision to not look at or read certain things.

You make a decision to not think about, imagine, or fantasize about certain things.

Take you attention off of other things, and put it on Jesus.

12:3- consider Him- to think over, consider, ponder, to consider by way of comparison.

Imperative mood- it’s a command.

If the Hebrews were going through a tough time, they needed to compare their struggle to what Jesus went through.

Lest you become weary-be wearied, sick, faint

to loose, unloose, to set free 

2) to dissolve, metaph., to weaken, relax, exhaust 

  1. a) to have one’s strength relaxed, to be enfeebled through exhaustion, to grow weak, grow weary, be tired out 
  2. b) to despond, become faint hearted

And discouraged in your souls-KJV- (minds)  psuche {psoo-khay’}

feelings, desires, affections, aversions (our heart, soul etc.
